Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how FootyLive ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the FootyLive Discord bot and associated web application (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the data the Service needs to work:

  • Discord identifiers — Your Discord user ID and username, the server (guild) and channel IDs where notifications are delivered, and the IDs of the matchday threads and polls the bot creates. Discord provides these when you interact with the bot.
  • Server details — The server's name, member count and the names of the channels the bot posts in, so the web app can show which server and channel you are managing.
  • Server members who use the bot — When you use a command or make a prediction in a server, we store your username, display name and when you were last active there, to build that server's leaderboard.
  • Web app login — When you log in with Discord, Discord shares your user ID, username, display name and avatar, and the list of servers you are in, which we use to show the ones you can manage. We do not receive your email address.
  • Subscription preferences and settings — The teams, competitions and matches you follow, your language, the event types you want, silent mode and the matchday threads setting.
  • Match predictions — Score predictions you submit through the bot or web app, with results and points for leaderboards.
  • Poll results — For "who wins?" polls the bot reads only the vote totals, never who voted for what.
  • Usage events — Which commands, buttons and features are used and which notifications are delivered, stored with the Discord user ID and channel ID involved. When you visit our website or log in to the web app, we also record your IP address, approximate country and browser type.

The bot does not read the messages in your server or your DMs: it only receives the commands and buttons you use. If you add FootyLive to your Discord account (user install) and use its commands elsewhere, the bot sees the command, not the conversation. We do not collect email addresses, phone numbers or payment information.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Deliver real-time match notifications, highlights and daily digests to your Discord DMs or server channel.
  • Run the score prediction game, server leaderboards and the weekly leaderboard post, which shows members' display names.
  • Remember your language and notification preferences.
  • Send you a one-time welcome message the first time you log in to the web app.
  • Understand how features are used, find and fix problems, and improve the Service.
  • Enforce subscription limits and prevent abuse.

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored in two systems:

  • Operational database — Stores your Discord identifiers, server details, subscription lists, notification settings and prediction history. This data is linked to your Discord user, server or channel ID.
  • Analytics database — Stores usage events (see above). They carry Discord user and channel IDs so we can troubleshoot; we report on them in aggregate and never use them for advertising profiles.

Data is stored on servers in Germany (EU), hosted by Hetzner. We use industry-standard security measures to protect stored data.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. We do not share your information with third parties except as necessary to operate the Service:

  • Football data provider — We fetch live match data from an external API. No user data is transmitted to this provider.
  • Discord — We communicate with Discord's API to send notifications and receive commands. Discord's own Privacy Policy governs their data handling.
  • YouTube — Match highlights are official YouTube videos. When you play one, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
  • Top.gg — We share only the number of servers the bot is in.
  • Legal requirements — We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as you use the Service:

  • Using /stop removes your team and competition subscriptions. Single-match follows and your language and event settings stay until you ask us to delete them.
  • When the bot is removed from a server, it stops posting there. We keep that server's settings and subscriptions so they come back if the bot is added again, until you ask us to delete them.
  • Predictions are kept so past leaderboards stay correct.
  • To request complete deletion of your data, contact us via our Discord community. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — Request a summary of data we hold about your Discord ID.
  • Correction — Update your preferences at any time using bot commands or the web app.
  • Deletion — Request removal of all data associated with your Discord ID.
  • Opt out — Use /stop at any time to unsubscribe from all notifications.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated policy on this page and announce significant changes in our Discord community server. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
